Warm Home Discount
Am I eligible for the Warm Home Discount and will I still get it when I move to E.ON Next?
The Warm Home Discount is there to support people with their energy payments. Customers on the scheme get a one-off, annual discount of £140 (inclusive of VAT) on their electricity bill. It’s a scheme, supported by the government and energy suppliers.
There are 2 main groups of people who will qualify for the Warm Home Discount:
- The Core Group is automatically entitled to receive the WHD. If this is you, you should receive a letter from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) who'll arrange for your discount to be made automatically.
- The Broader Group is entitled to the discount if you have a low income and receive certain benefits like Income Support.
If you have received the Guarantee Element of Pension Credit in July 2020, you will receive a letter from the Department of Work and Pensions this winter confirming your eligibility for the 'Core Group', and will continue to receive it when your energy is supplied by E.ON Next. If you've applied for the Warm Home Discount with Powershop through the 'Broader Group', your application will progress as normal. We'll be in touch if we need more information. If you haven't applied and think you might be eligible, E.ON Next also offer the Warm Home Discount.
When is the Warm Home Discount paid? How will I receive it?
If you applied for the 2020/2021 scheme, the discount of £140 (inclusive of VAT) should be applied to your electricity account by the end of March 2021. In some instances, it is possible that it might not appear on your bill until May 2021. If you believe the discount hasn’t been applied by the time you get your May 2021 bill, then please contact us to check.
